RIO 2016 Olympic Interviews – coach Norrie Williamson
September 10, 2016
One of the Great things about being in Rio is the opportunity to talk to various athletes about their training and the innovative way they use equipment, particularly when it involves something we can get in South Africa but have yet to use correctly.
In this video, you can listen to Netherlands Susan Kuijken a 5000m double Olympian who uses the Elliptigo for training and also to control her Achilles niggles.
Also interviewed is USA’s Meb Keflezighi, not only the 2014 Boston Marathon winner but multiple Olympian and the oldest marathon runner in RIO 2016. He ran an impressive race at 41 years of age and uses the Elliptigo virtually every day to maximise his training.
Despite his 41 years he was less than 1 minute behind the very best South African Lusapho April(2:15:24 for 24th), (many years his younger), in 2:16 and 33rd position.
These were by no means the only athletes using Elliptigo in training for their season and the Games.. there are in excess of a dozen but i had the opportunity to interview Susan and Meb and found their comments of interest…
